Big Bear Resort combines condos, cabins, marina, and an 'RV park' into one business. Everything is pretty tired. The RV park has very few transient sites. Most sites are dedicated to permanent 'weekender' trailers. There were two transient sites where we put our Class A RV. The site was just gravel and dirt.
Utilities were okay but not great. Restrooms were located across from us -- cement block shower buildings like one used to have at kids camp. Disappointing given the beauty of the setting around Kentucky Lake. Use the state and national park facilities -- much nicer.
Roads on the property to the RV park were narrow and in poor condition. Campground is ok and has spots right on the lake but DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use the marina here -- VAL the marina manager has to be the most nasty, unfriendly person we have come across in 20 years of camping. I would give the campground a better rating (maybe 3-4 stars) but have to be wary of any campground that would employ such a grumpy and inflexible person. O que e single track bike. There are plenty of other really nice marina's and campgrounds in the area so do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache and GO SOMEWHERE else especially if you want a to rent a boat.
Big Bear is the best. My family vacationed here when I was a child, and I still go back every other year with my dad and brother for a guys get away.
The layout is ideal for comfortable lake vacationing. Easy lake access, with a new public launch next door makes coming and going a breeze. The staff is courteous and prompt. We stay in the townhouses, which have recently been updated. They're perfect for a enjoying a week or weekend at the lake.
We have been and will continue to stay at Big Bear every time we're at Kentucky Lake.
